About me
The Good Woman Of Setzuanby Bertolt Brecht
I began to imagine a city that is profoundly cut off from Nature. A city of patches and rust. A city that has lost its connections to rebirth, the seasons, and cannot begin to address the pressing daily needs of its citizens. Eventually, I envisioned the underground sewer system of that city, and I decided to make “the sewer” – a dry one – one of the central metaphors of my design. This is the home of the poor. People use all the waste they collect to build their homes. In this underground society where lights can barely come in, people and the environment both have been rusted. The material life that people cannot be satisfied can only be replaced by drugs, their body has appeared deformation.
